Our History

As a small fluid power distributor, we were founded on the value of relationships. We’ve grown to offer automation, process control, and product solutions, but our foundation has never wavered.

1961

Thomas A. Kundinger and Ken Miller found Miller-Kundinger Sales Engineering. Operations started in the Kundinger family basement in Fenton, Michigan.

1963

Miller-Kundinger moved the business to a building in downtown Fenton, Michigan, serving customers in Michigan’s industrial “Golden Triangle”.

1965

Thomas A. Kundinger buys 40 acres of farmland along Highway 23 in Fenton, Michigan to develop an industrial park and build a new headquarters building for Miller-Kundinger Sales Engineering.

1968

Operations expand to Appleton, Wisconsin, and the company’s name changes to Kundinger Fluid Power, Inc.

1969

The new Michigan headquarters opens in Fenton. The office and warehouse building on Alloy Drive became the first building in the industrial area along US-23.

1980

The second generation of leadership establishes roots with the company. Thomas J. Kundinger, the eldest of the Kundinger sons, relocates to Wisconsin to oversee Kundinger Fluid Power operations.

1990

A new phase of the Kundinger business is established with the addition of Hydra-Tech Systems, now known as Kundinger Technology Center. This new arm of the business allows Kundinger to take individual vendor products and put them together in a packaged solution for customers.

1997

Kundinger acquires Analytical Process Systems, Inc. (APS), a solutions provider for specialty testing equipment, control system integration and facility safety systems.

1998

The headquarters in Michigan moves again, relocating to Auburn Hills, Michigan, where it is still located today.

1998

A new Wisconsin headquarters building is constructed in Neenah, Wisconsin.

2003

A Kundinger Parts and Service Center opens in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

2010

Kundinger expands again with the opening of a Kundinger Parts and Service Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

2011

Kundinger celebrates a half-century as a family-run business.

2014

Kundinger Service and Repair Solutions, LLC is formed to offer repair services to customers at a lower cost than a new product.

2021

Now in its third generation of leadership, Kundinger Fluid Power celebrates 60 years of innovation and adaptability.
